在我看来，安格尔在绘画方面的创作比他在肖像画方面更自由。他的肖像画，尤其是女性肖像，非常出色，但让人觉得他过于频繁地接受委托，从而严重限制了自己多才多艺的天赋得以充分发挥的机会。

太棒了！我讨厌现代抽象的表演、装置艺术等等。我反对毕加索、马蒂斯、马列维奇、菲洛诺夫、兹韦列夫等人，以及他们所代表的、充满负面、丑陋和反艺术的东西，而这些东西在我们的生活中已经足够多了。我支持积极、美丽、人性化的艺术，就像让·奥古斯特·多米尼克·安格尔、奥古斯丁·布热罗和其他所有古典与学院派艺术家所倡导的那种艺术。
